I went to Utah with Thurman, to sell brooms for Scheumack Broom Company
Wednesday night, we drove out of Eugene in a Ford 350 work van , full of brooms, including many of my carved items, walking sticks, etc
we made it to Park City Utah late thursday night, and snagged the plumb parking spot the corner of the lot closest to the vendor area. Thurman has done this show many times, apparently.

Ranger is Thurman's dog. She is a german shepherd, two years old, and very chill.
Thurman blatantly broke the rule of "no dogs for vendors" but the staff were all in awe of what a great dog Ranger is, and this dog is very calm and relaxed.
The smoke was awful, almost reaching the level that Eugene sustained during the 'Camp' Fire last year, which did so much damage up the mckenzie river area. somehow, the jet stream was pulling smoke into Park City area, because its a large valley at a high elevation.
Thurman and I had mild bloody noses from breathing all the smoke.
i alternated between running the booth, and caring for the dog, so she didn't just swelter in the heat all day.
the air quality was so poor, that I didn't think a lot of exercise was good for me or Ranger,
I made sure she always had plenty of clean cool water close by

I had two meals out while in Park City. The first was saturday afternoon, just as we were figuring out that Ranger was OK at the booth, in fact, she was as famous as the brooms, and it was evident from pretty early on, there were people walking around with our brooms everywhere, even including other vendors, who we gave a generous discount, as they were using some of our products in their display, in one case, a guy named Arunis, from Bellingham washington who weaves metal baskets, and used our products in his displays. Also A guy named Kevin!
the other was at a thai restaurant, but i really just wound up doing shots with the bartender and his biddy who owns the sports bar next door, I guess the bar wasn't open next door yet, and Kyle The sports bar guy, needed a hair fo the dog to keep the blues at bay, and the bartender at the Thai place started lining up what they call "chilly boys", just a super strong margarita, shaken with ice, meant to be slammed. They included me in three rounds of those, and I ordered some calamari, which was not the best.

Salt Lake City Airport was under very smokey skies.

San Francisco was clear, and my flights were on time and uneventful.

my taxi driver was a co-worker from the residential treatment facility where i worked for 8 years.
her family are friends of mine that I know through music and through taxi driving, when I worked at Oregon Taxi....
we had a nice conversation about how nieither of us like following rules, and she stressed that she especially disliked the "fee for service" approach thet requires so much external documentation.....
You know!
Lil Mort didn't practice but we worked on costumes for musical monster friends, a project I'm participating in without much hope of any financial return, but darn it, it is for the kids! Anyways, mostly its a chance to work with Skot Boyes, whose artwork I admire greatly, and
thats about it. I'll be wearing a blue foam monster head, and playing mostly banjo.....

I got my first covid test, courtesy of my friend Holly, who had been visiting from the UK. anyways, many thanks to Holly!
but I'm disappointed that these aren't more widely available here in the USA.......
PEACE!
