 hey kids

I hope this finds you all well:  Thriving, Happy, Joyful and Free

I went to L.A. for to see the Flogging Molly at the Hollywood Palladium.  I made a business trip out of it by driving a truckload of brooms from Eugene to Sacramento, for the broom shop.  Delivering to the  Bay Area Renaissance Fair, or to their storage facility anyway
I didn't have to chain up, there was some snow falling while I drove, but not much accumulation

Then I drove through the atmospheric river.  with winds up to 60 mph (96 km/h)  I pulled over three times to inspect my hood ("bib" to you!) because I had never seen the hood rattle that much, I kept thinking it wasn't latched properly.

I slept at my brother's place in Berkeley, and drove to LA. wednesday, getting in about 2 pm.  I managed to not eat much garbage food.  I did eat at McDonald's, that was not good.  I made up for it with a green smoothie and some Omega Trek Mix (GORP)

Rich Polysorbate said he knew of a cool comedy/variety show in Silverlake at the Lyric Hyperion, a coffeehouse with a theater attached.  So I went to Escarpment Studios, which Rich lives in the prop department.  He asked if Don Bolles could go, and I agreed, knowing that Don is eccentric and full of stories about his days as drummer with The Germs, 45 Grave, Celebrity Skin, Fancy Space People, etc

This event turned out to be a hoot and a holler.  There was a lull during the nap portion, I guess I'll say it reminded me of PeeWee's Playhouse in some ways.  I spoke to Robert and Sarah after the show, and they recommended I listen to Bobby Conn.  Bebe McPherson was also a lot of fun to talk to, she owns the historical Outfitters Wig Shop (outfitterswig.com! and Outfitters Wig on IG) famous for outfitting drag queens everywhere since 1969!  Bebe saved the shop and revitalized it.

Then, it was Friday.  Saint Patrick's Day.  I ate a bagel, took a long walk, took a nap, and then.......
I drove my mom's honda to the Park and Ride in Redondo.  I took the green line metro rail to the Harbor Freeway, then connected to a Silver Line bus.  I got into downtown, but I wasn't having luck finding the Red Line.
I saw a rack of Metro Rental Bikes.
I rented a Bike.
My google maps said 49 minutes by bike, and I said
"We'll see about that!"
I beat their time by almost 10 minutes, despite wearing heavy hiking boots and a leather jacket!

I made it to the Palladium in plenty of time to see Skinny Lister, Anti-Flag, and Flogging Molly.  I ate a pretzel and drank a red bull.

I took a LYFT back to the Park and Ride at about 3 am

Driving home Saturday, I blasted through 14 hours on the road.  The snow had melted, and I didn't need to chain up
I had a chicken fried steak at a Denny's in Hanford, and it was actually very good.

thanks again for finding me here

EDIT 4/17/23
I'm trying to remember the names of all the random people I met at the show, and of course, its not easy, but I did see Dele and Debra on their way out of the show, waiting for our transports.
Of course, I have seen Flogging Molly many times, and most often, I will get a chance to hangout with Nathen, or other members of the band, and shipmates (From Salty Dog Cruise) but this time, I feel my big adventure was just riding public transpiration through L.A. instead of just driving, Like I always do.

PEACE!
