saw these guys last night at McDonald Theater. I balked at the price, but it was worth it. the opening act, Forro in the Dark, was really fun- Brazilian music.
GB played a few of the old favorites: Immigrant Punk, Start Wearin Purple. Their drummer, Eliot Ferguson (No, not Turd Ferguson!) is a native of Eugene, Oregon! Also, their charismatic singer is Eugene Hutz: I'm sure he likes being in a town that shares his name....
I missed The Latrines and Pistol Whipped Prophets at Wandering Goat, but an amazing thing happened at the GB show, my recent intense shoulder pain and stiffness was completely gone while I was in the pit, and not very bad this morning. Jostling around with a few hundred other hot, sweaty dancers can be very therapeutic apparently. Though, I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. As it was, my feet got stepped on A LOT, and I had to be vigilant to avoid getting elbowed in the face.
