haven't heard this one in a coon's age, it always made me ... think? i dind't know it was Bertholt Brecht until now, and of course now that I know, its painfully obvious. If you're not familiar with DVR, he had a hand in the success of 60's folk/protest singers, and for that he should be ashamed, but he taught a few things to cats like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Joan Baez when he was kicking around in the village way back when. He was a mean talent on guitar, banjo, anything with strings really.
His type of protest songs would NEVER get ANY airplay on ANY radio station... to wit
"When I got back from Luang Prabang, I didn't have nothin' where my balls used to hang..."
also some just plain rude songs, like The Whores of San Pedro. But also, he inspired a few Grateful Dead numbers like 'I Been All Around This World', 'Samson and Delilah', etc.
I'm going to LCC now! I'm doing some Headhunting, and made a placement this week, on a deal which has been in the works since February.
