Soothesayers at Sam Bond's next Sunday

fredxmertzSoothesayers are playing at Sam Bond's to protest the new BIOMASS FUEL plant in Eugene.
This will be the cleanest, greenest BIOMASS plant in the United States, BUT its still burning wood fuel to produce energy. We have perfectly good rivers that produce hydro electric power, and my understanding is that even just a small trickling stream is often enough to produce enough power for a small home, especially when used in conjunction with some solar panels, - yes, they're still expensive to install, but I think they pay for themselves pretty quickly and we should be leaning on our 'elected officials' to give bigger tax credits for cleaner, greener energy.
This biomass plant is a greenwash. Just because its the cleanest biomass plant, does not mean it IS a clean plant. It will be belching smoke into the sky 24/7, and so soon after we fought and won against field burning. Because we are in a valley, and the air is often stagnant, when its full of pollen and smoke, it hurts.
I think I have a paid LJ now. wow, I feel so dirty, but it should chase away those dang BEST BUY ads....
