Things are going well at the Schuemack Broom Shop. Wholesale orders are through the roof and Sam's etsy site is the busiest it has ever been.
I'm not accompanying Thurman to Mill Valley for the King's Mountain show, but I'm just as happy staying away from crowds right now, and I kind of freak out that Thurman isn't more careful about wearing a mask when he meets the public.
My carvings are keeping me busy. We've had huge wholesale orders, and the carvings are super popular again, like they haven't been in years. I'd like to think that's because I'm doing a great job, but I know its also because of the increased sales in general.
Halloween is coming, and that is our busiest time of the year. The shop usually slows to a crawl in winter, with the fewest orders of the year, but the trend lately has been busy busy busy, and that's good for the production crew.
I'm selling my house in Eugene. its the house where my kids grew up. the neighborhood is very sought after and most homes are getting a great price. my issue is that there is a lot of deferred maintenance, and the inspection yesterday confirmed, "worse than I thought" even though I was really bracing for a shock. I got it. (et tu, faucet?)
so, now we will go round and round with the buyers, who intend to purchase the house, fix it up and 'flip' it. so this buyer knows what they're getting into, it probably just means less profit for me. I really need to get out of this house, and this neighborhood. I need to down size and find the right area for me to live, which more and more sounds rural or semi-rural, and more mobile.
Just getting rid of a lot of stuff in a hurry was therapeutic for me, and freeing.
Now I have to figure out where me and my kitty will live. I'm looking forward to living more sustainably.
