Save The Paddys!
Nov. 4th, 2007 03:25 pmsorry to say the Puddletown Paddys have NOT been very active lately. Aleka has an adorable habit of busking outside of any Pirate or Paddypunk shows, he calls it pirating: we just bring acoustic instruments and start hacking away. At Diablo's downtown lounge in early September (talk like a pirate day) we had a pretty decent crowd outside in the 'smorkin' area, that covered patio area under the awning. I played some harmonica and whistle to tunes I mostly did not know.
he'd planned to do a similar action outside of the Dropkick Murphys/Tossers show tomorrow night at McDonald theater... EXCEPT his acoustic group, Man Overboard, couldn't manage to get a single practice in the 3 weeks that he's been planning it...
meanwhile the Puddletown Paddys are in serious jeopardy. I really don't have much time or energy to chide the group into practicing. Nathanael, the other founding member, has been pretty despondent- though he may be the one most in need of practicing, I rarely hear from him. granted he's been moving and looking for a job, but thats not an excuse. I've warned him to 'squat or get off the pot', and still not much response or enthusiasm.
The Soothesayers, though, have gigs. 11/17 at Luckey's, and 11/23 at John henry's. Playing rock and roll guitar is not as challenging or engaging to me as doing banjo, whistle, harmonica and vocals. But really, there's less drama with my Soothesayers and we have lots more time to practice.
So please come out and see the Soothesayers this month!
