Summer is Under Way

 Hey Everybody.

Temps are supposed to be near 100 here in the bottom of the Willamette Valley this week.  Its gona be yucky.  I only have light work scheduled, and I'll be waiting by my phone for relief shifts.  In other words, I did NOT get the Case Manager job I'd interviewed for.  But I had a little vacation to upstate New York, with a friend, her family has a house on Canandaigua Lake,

Physical characteristics of the lake are:

• 16.57 square miles (10,600 acres) of surface area
• 15.8 miles long
• 1.5 miles wide
• 276 feet deep
• 688 feet above sea level
• 35.9 miles of shoreline
• 34.7 (97%) private
• 1.2 (3%) public
• 429 billion gallons capacity
  The lake has an abundance of trout, bass, perch, bullhead and several other common fish species for fishing.

We visited the town of Victor , where there is a Native American Historic Site, Ganondagan 

Ganondagan State Historic Site located in Victor, NY is a National Historic Landmark, the only New York State Historic Site dedicated to a Native American theme (1987), and the only Seneca town developed and interpreted in the United States. Spanning 569 acres,

Ganondagan State Historic Site, also known as Boughton Hill, is a Native American historic site in Ontario County, New York in the United States. Location of the largest Seneca village of the 17th century, the site is in the present-day Town of Victor, southwest of the Village of Victor.

We had arrived very late in the day, near closing time for the Museum and galleries, and they were very accommodating.  I learned the story of Tadodaho  , who resisted the Confederation of Nations, but was eventually convinced by Hiawatha and A Great Peace Maker  and of course, this historic site is also where French troops 'savagely' attacked the peaceful Seneca town that existed there. 

We had a nice time boating on the lake on Memorial Day, Tasted Wine and Hiked Watkins Glen.


My friend's family place, which she shares with two brothers and numerous family through the summers, is one of the few remaining original cottages, and its now mostly surrounded by Gi-Huge-Ic McMansions some of which now go for $7M

only slightly exaggerated.....
a lot of these tacky McMansions get rented on airBNB, or the like, and blah blah blah, don't get me started.
But it was a beautiful place to chill out for a few days, after not having any real... vacation in a pretty long time.


My trio ( Davy Jones Locker Combo ) played a show in Portland Friday.  .... I was told, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.
but we had fun, and we got paid.  We got Dwight Dickinson out of retirement to do our big sexy intro, and it was a great heartfelt rant!
He's all about being a Dad right now, and finished his Teaching Special Ed Masters.  Unfortunately, we didn't bring out a lot of people this time around, but we had a few noisy patrons who stayed around and made it fun, even though we played last, which here I'm going to say it anyways dad fetch it, the traveling band should go in the middle spot, THERE!  I said it.  we had fun? check.  we got paid? check.
Summer is full blown under way, and I gota go work on my yard and get out on my motorcycle again.

I may be called back into action to help out with my Dad in Portland later this summer, but this month, my sister will pick Dad up, and take him down to stay with her while his new driveway and/or handicap able access ramp.  But he is getting a prosthetic leg in August! Yay!
