So, I will be relinquishing Mertz Manor to Nux on or before February 1st. My house-mates and I will be looking for a new place before then. Nux will be returning with my daughter in mid-December, less than 2 weeks from now. Nux will get her old job back, the one that she left in order to do crafting full-time. I will probably winding up driving San to school, and that might be our only interaction for a while, as she is still pretty pissed at me.
I'm finishing up the term at Lane COmmunity COllege, having focused on 'Human Services' this term, which readily applies to my current job at the Residential Treatment Facility.
The Human Services curriculum at LCC is filled with people in recovery , and some of them are like the walking wounded. The 'personal growth' presentations this week were an eye opener, but being one of the few males in the class also made things SUPER awkward for me. The stories most of the students shared were about abuse, neglect, drug use, trauma and tragedy. So do I feel lucky to already be employed in the Human Services field? Not especially, the pay is not much, and the work is often far from stimulating. I enjoy it, but its not in my long-term trajectory: My goal is to be a Marriage & family counselor, NOT a CADC (Certified Alcohol & Droog Counselor) like many of the students in those classes:
i.e. Psychopharmacology. I'm registered for a Motivational Interviewing class next term.
