Hello Dear Reader,
Thanks for finding me here. I hope you are all thriving and surviving amidst the global pandemic and economic crash of this strange and terrible year.
I'm working as a woodcarver at the Sheumack Broom Shop (https://www.broommagic.com) and started carving tikis, mostly out of driftwood. I am able to find plenty of logs, but they are fresh and need to be seasoned, or dried in a kiln before they can be carved.
One thing I was not so happy with at the broom shop, was a co-worker with an extremely bad attitude. Someone my own age, but they acted like a grumpy teenager, and constantly cornered other workers and complained to them incessantly, and spoke negatively of others who were not there to defend themselves. This person has made many gross sexist comments when we were alone in the shop, and constantly complains to me about things that I have no power to change. yesterday, Thurman walked into the shop while this person was whining to our co-worker. Thurman blasted his shit, and when "this person" continued to argue and whine, Thurman said 'Get the fuck out NOW'
This action was met with relief and praise by me and the other worker. Thurman acknowledged that he doesn't like to do that, and I believe him, but this action seemed a long time coming. its not right for someone to whine at us (since October) and tell stories on people who aren't there. The shop will feel much more positive and cheery without that dude. No one is happy that it came to that, but at least it feels as though justice was served. Thurman is an outlaw.
(sigh of relief)
Tiki carving has been a kind of breakthrough for me, creatively. I have a carving station under a canopy in my back yard. I've been carving broom handles and walking sticks at the shop, carving pays the best for piece-work, so I made it my goal.
Food preparation at my place leans toward fresh, local produce. I have lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, parsley, california peppers, and a massive marijuana plant (its legal here)
My daughter was here to visit this past weekend, we made pizzas, walked around the neighborhood, played xbox and ate a lot of sweets. School will not change for her, as she started an online learning program last year. She has been seizure-free since February, and that is a gift. The new medication seems to be working well.
So I hope everyone can experience a breakthrough without having to deal with anger or negativity. Cloud tranquility, y'all!
Today's I Ching Reading:

The stoic Mountain drains its excess waters to the Lake below:
The Superior Person curbs his anger and sheds his desires.
To be frugal and content is to possess immeasurable wealth within.
Nothing of value could be refused such a person.
Make a portion of each meal a share of your offering.
You are able to provide what others need without depriving yourself.
Keep to this humble course of aid, but do not attempt a heroic rescue, or unforeseen calamities will fall.

Transformed Hexagram:
27 - Twenty-Seven
I / Providing Nourishment
Beneath the immobile Mountain the arousing Thunder stirs:
The Superior Person preserves his freedom under oppressive conditions by watching what comes out of his mouth, as well as what goes in.
Endure and good fortune will come.
Nurture others in need, as if you were feeding yourself.
Take care not to provide sustenance for those who feed off others.
Stay as high as possible on the food chain.
SITUATION ANALYSIS:
You are a conduit in this instance, able to provide the sustenance needed by others.
Position yourself to nourish the truly needy and worthy.
Avoid situations where you might be coerced into supporting the parasites and vermin who deprive your true charges.
Your own nourishment is an issue here, too.
Remember Lao Tzu's three Great Treasures:
Only the person possessed of Compassion, Modesty and Frugality can remain fit enough to stay free of desperation and keep control of the situation.
