Its St Patrick's Day! My local Irish bar, and home away from home, The Pint Pot, closed yesterday for quarantine/ social distancing, along with all restaurants and bars in Oregon. Everyone is losing money faster than they thought possible. The state is offering 4 weeks of unemployment for these workers. Thankfully, I'm not directly affected.

The broom shop is affected only by the economic slowdown and won't be likely to get any bulk orders, since all the shops are closed.

I've started carving the 'wizard face' into walking sticks and broom handles, a new part of my job.

Sheltercare is calling me to fill in for open shifts a lot lately.  I can't imagine what the administrators are telling people, but I'm pretty certain they expect their workers to 'cross the line' and ignore the quarantine by showing up to work and further endangering themselves and their families. Sheltercare did just implement a Cost-of-Living-Adjustment, and I'm going to take advantage of that in redeeming some of my accrued my paid time off.

I've got an extra roomie for part of this month, Samantha's house-mate Amber, is staying here while she finishes up her Paid Time Off at her current job, and gets some dental work done.  It doesn't hurt that she is a great house-keeper and cook!

Unspeakable delights tempt maddeningly from the far bank.
You must not cross this stream.

Food for Lane County is offering free food boxes.  we are pretty well stocked up for the time being, but who knows what will happen in 2 weeks of being stuck at home with few options for buying prepared meals.

Samantha has offered me a place to stay at her new house, in Yachats, on the Oregon Coast.  It's a location that has more options for 'social distancing' than here in Friendly Area Neighborhood, and yet it is still right on Highway 101, so readily accessible.  And I have the option of visiting Satya, out in Mapleton, also near the Oregon Coast.  but both of those locations are too far from my places of work to stay there for too long.

I'll go visit Miss Nuxie and our kids this weekend.  They tend to not go out very much anyways..... we had tickets for BIKINI KILL at Crystal Ballroom, but of course that was cancelled.

Playing music? well, Pirate Radio is supposed to practice tomorrow, but who knows.  I DO know that Teren and Jameson will be out of work for weeks, and they will be anxious to get out of the house and rock a bit.  most of my other music projects will remain on hold, since I gave up my rehearsal studio (for very simple and straight forward financial reasons)

the weather is pretty mild, I'm sure to get in lots of hiking, biking and jumping rope....
