me and colin g played a gig at speakeasy last night as EL TUMBA MUERTO (duo)
me on guitar, singing and harmonica. Colin on the upright slap bass.
Soothesayers play at Sam Bond's Garage tomorrow with UNDERLINGS, GOLDEN MOTORS, and COLLEGE GIRLS OF TORA BORA.
walking with Santina to Dari Mart tonight to get milk: my cat Jackie, followed us the entire 1/2 mile there and 1/2 mile back.
meteor shower tonight! Perseids are active from July 23 to August 24, with their peak on August 12th.
During the peak, the rate of meteors reaches 60 or more per hour. They can be seen all across the sky, but because of the path of Swift-Tuttle's orbit, Perseids are primarily visible in the northern hemisphere. As with all meteor showers, the rate is greatest in the pre-dawn hours, since the side of the Earth nearest to turning into the sun scoops up more meteors as the Earth moves through space. In 2009, the estimated peak Zenithal Hourly Rate was 173[4], but fainter meteors were washed out by a waning gibbous moon.
this year the moon sets early enough to get a better view between midnite and dawn:
