Found out some good news about my old pal Nathen Maxwell. he kinda hit the jackpot when his dad introduced him to Dave King and Flogging Molly. At that time, Nathen was the youngest member of the group and had to drag his left handed upright bass out to Hollywood 4 times a week in his old Buick.
Since then (1997), FM has done a world tour almost every year and some years they've toured for 10 months.
When I first met him, he was playing bass and singing for a punk group called PBS. they opened up for my band Joltergeist at "Loony's" in Torrance. When Nuxie got preggers with JP in 95, Nathen took over on bass and we had an awesome fun time recording and doing a LITTLE touring, around Calfornia.
I wish him & his family all the best. Apparently, I'll have to go see his new band in Hermosa Beach while I'm down there!

White Rabbit We have some very big news for the Flogging Molly faithful. Our very own, the one and only Nathen Maxwell, is embarking on a very special side project: Nathen Maxwell & The Original Bunny Gang. The new project's debut release, titled "White Rabbit," hits the streets on August 18th on SideOneDummy Records. Written over the course of many years during the few-and-far-between breaks between Flogging Molly tours and recording sessions, "White Rabbit" will show Flogging Molly fans the other side of Nathen's musical personality. To capture the true spirit of these songs, Nathen paired up with with his father, maxwellvision, who he not only refers to as "his favorite drummer," but who is also responsible for introducing Nathen to Flogging Molly. "It's comes full circle musically for my dad and I, and I couldn't be happier or more proud in returning the favor to him". The Maxwells enlisted long time Flogging Molly producer Ted Hutt to record White Rabbit and rounded out their jam session with Flogging Molly's very own Matt Hensley on concertina and accordion. The Original Bunny Gang combines Nathen's passion for punk, folk and reggae to create an album that will take many of you by surprise.

Nathen Maxwell & The Original Bunny Gang head out on August 18, the album release date, for a two week west coast headline tour. In addition to club dates, the band will be doing some very special acoustic performances and signings in independent record stores along the way. It's worth mentioning, in Nathen's words, that he "will never do anything to take away from his primary passion of playing bass in Flogging Molly", a gig he considers "the best job in the world".
