There have been many similar compositions through time that work on this minor key riff, most are in waltz time, but Brubeck did this in 5/4... I must admit I'm NOT good at unusual time signatures...

I've always been fond of the Quicksilver Messenger Service's instrumental, (Acapulco) Gold and Silver ...their guitarist John Cippolina was a big influence on me.
