TROUBLE AT OLD NICK'S?! Say is isn't so!
back in Septtember, Pirate Radio was asked to open for The Toasters on December 9th. Teen and Jameson are very busy with their tiki bar, and didn't show much interest in playing a show anytime, soon. We also turned down a Slackers show.... (sigh) ..... The group practiced a bit through the pandemic, and even made a new recording, but our drummer, Cody H, is now playing for Kyra Van Winkle's band, The Bad Luck Blackouts, except I believe they're called the Bad News Blackouts now. They've played one show that I've heard of, (didn't go to, cause I was in California over thanksgiving weekend) opening for The Casualties at the WOW Hall.
Well, The Toasters wound up not playing the show due to someone testing positive for Covid, and the venue did NOT do a good job (did they even try?) to let people know that the show had been cancelled.
what a mess.
I'm pretty sure that Old NIck's did pre-sale tickets, and that means refunds, complications, and bad faith.
I'm sure The Toasters will probably be back, they seem to love Old Nick's,
but
what a mess.

BROOMS
The broom shop is kicking ass. Thurman keeps saying things will slow down, but they haven't yet. I had orders for 19 carved walking sticks this week, and carved broom sticks are popular, too. I've finally learned the process for dying our broom corn. we don't dye the black, if we can possibly help it. mostly, the red color, or what we call Rust. The bottle calls it 'burnt orange' I ruined a pair of pants, but I wasn't anxious to save them, they were 2nd hand Cabela's Mountain Climbing pants, but they had a broken zipper, anyway......

Tomorrow at Bossanova Ballroom in Portland, so excite!
FAMILY SOLSTICE GET-TOGETHER
I will see my kids and Nux, then visit my dad, and maybe sleep at my dad's place. They will get brooms.
STICK PILGRIMAGE
I still have not been to the groves where our sticks originate! but I want to make that trip soon, before winter digs in.
they are grown near Brownsville, oregon by land conservators there. nature is their church!
