I'm back in Portland. This is where I usually wind up getting enough (?) free time to document the silliness.
I'm relieving my brother of 'Dad duty' for a week.
My hound dog, Waffles, is up here with me, and we often walk around the campus of Portland Community College, in this weird part of town where my Dad lives.
My Dad is in decent shape physically, for where he is: he had a below-the-knee amputation, he navigates in a wheelchair, mostly around his house, and he is mostly pretty independent, yet I can't relax.
His deficiencies and gaps are mental and procedural. He looks at an analog clock, and doesn't recognize that he can't read it correctly, so even though he knows it is not ten o'clock, he'll ask. Searching for words, I try to be patient, and I AM patient, but jesus lord in heaven.
I arrived here late Friday afternoon and drove Timothy to the airport Saturday and 5 am. I do some calisthenics and walk a lot, but I feel fatigue.
I've taken Dad out a few times, putting the wheelchair in the back of my truck is easy. He is pretty independent with the transfer from chair to truck seat. We wen't to Bullseye pub (Tigard, OR) for my Dad's favorite Prime Rib dinner. Its not very good, I don't recommend it. But its a little bit better than Walter Mitty's, his other nearby favorite. The food is NOT good at either of these places, but he's old and their proximity has been the primary appeal. He used to be a true gourmand, overweight, and unapologetic, kind of a slob, really. sorry, but its true.
and I should know.
but my dog's not eating right either. sometimes she gets into the yucky stuff and then she won't eat properly. ugh.
Well, I'll be here until Thursday. I've got some shifts at Garden Place, Saturday-Sunday-Monday.
Later this month, I'll be joining my Pint Pot pals and the Pirate Radio guys for a Hepcat Halloween Extravaganza,first we're going to Anaheim, CA to see The Aggrolites and Hepcat at The House of Blues. Then we will go down to Coronado to see the Scallywag Fest featuring Rancid, Hepcat, Boston's, Interrupters, and then we'll go to Universal Citywalk's Fright Fest.
November 3rd, the Indiscretions will play with Beast of Eden and Sacred Trees at Blairally! :
