Tonight at Shotokan, Sensei talked about the wind blowing the leaves and demonstrated several techniques based on this type of movement. Your arms become branches and your fingers become the leaves, or needles! Though the trunk sways gently, you can see a whip-like action happening as the leaves shake and toss off the water. Using this image, each drop of water becomes a deadly projectile, like a shuriken (throwing star)
Turns out there are pine tree kata, bamboo kata, ... soon, we will start training with a short sword, or ken, which is featured in many Buddhist traditions.
Nuxie made her famous lumpia which I wolfed down with Jufran banana sauce.
Wednesday, we go to Portland to see Flogging Molly.
This Friday 12/7 (Pearl Harbor day) the Soothesayers play a benefit for Emerald City Roller Girls at Sam Bond's Garage.
