Yes! this tradition seems to have appeared in Wales at about the same time it appeared in African-American and Black Canadian communities, and even appeared in ROOTS.
We sell traditional (round) brooms, sometimes called Besoms for this purpose, and I'm always happy the broom shop can part of peoples' weddings and hand-fastings!
