Sentimental Executioner
I felt I had a productive day at work yesterday. i was off at 10:30, and went for a night hike with my band-mates of Davy Jones Locker Combo, Mr. Jonny Birchwood and Charlie Hustle, as well as Charlie's buddy Adam. We brought waffles the wonder-pooch, and hiked to the top of Skinner's butte, arriving at the summit at 1 am. The moon was waxing gibbous, and bright. No jackets were required, there was only a light breeze.
Much trash was talked throughout the hike and the height of stupidity was the creation of
When Mild-mannered Fred X Mertz was on a night hike with his band members, and his faithful hound waffles, he was bitten in the emerods by a rattle snake. The venom was augmented by the roid medication, and Mertz assumed the powers of a rattle snake... and a hemorrhoid.
I'm very glad that Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite boys will be playing at the Eugene Celebration (http://www.eugenecelebration.com/) on Sunday, so I will be able to attend, IF we aren't headed up to Portland that day to move James into his dorm. yes, James is going to PNCA (http://www.pnca.edu/) art school in Portland!
anyhoo, yesterday my buddy Dan was out due to an injury he sustained while moving furniture. Dan is moving back to Korea in about a month, he asked me not to share this information with any of the clients at the residential treatment facility. So I ran his 'current events' group, and with the help of a new relief-worker-in-training, it was quite successful. One of the items shared during the group was ROOTING FOR THE UNDERDOG

A great article for counselor/advocates, but a VERY raw and possibly triggering article with strong language and brutally honest imagery. Dan uses the Eugene Weekly for the group because the paper is free and he can give a copy to all participants. Despite the raw language, residents got the message.
My buddy Maddy works at CAHOOTS, (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets, a program of White Bird Clinic). CAHOOTS provides a great service, but yes the workers deal with a lot of evil stuff on a day-to-day basis. The article was written with a somewhat heavy hand in order to get the point across, and a lot of it relates to residents at the facility as well.
Sheltercare operates with trauma-informed care, and if I inherit this group from Dan, I will probably use a source other than the Eugene Weekly!
